Oysters may contain norovirus

Research has revealed that 75% of oysters contain norovirus

Food Standards Agency researchers discovered low levels of the winter vomiting bug, norovirus, in 52% of the oysters which tested positive.

No safe limit for the virus has yet been established, so the FSA could not confirm whether anyone eating oysters would be ill as a result.

Andrew Wadge, FAS Chief Scientist, did however state that people should be aware of the risks associated with eating raw oysters.
